Others present for all or part of the meeting: Nancy Tanner (Town Administrator), Doug Hall, Jim Plunkett, Allen Mayville, Dave Dobson
Chairman Paveglio opened the meeting at 6:00pm.
2013 Budget
Mr. Paveglio provided all with a worksheet he developed showing the tax impact of 4 different options.
There was a discussion about whether the money for road reconstruction should appear in the operating budget or as separate warrant articles. The RAC recommends the warrant articles as they were originally presented. It was decided to put the dollars in a line in the operating budget and that the Selectmen would oversee that line. There was a discussion about what the town can afford and if we should continue with rebuilds or just shim the roads. It was decided that $186,500 would be put in the road reconstruction line item. This is only enough money to fund two of the four proposed projects. The feeling was that the money needed for all four would never be approved at town meeting.
Mr. Paveglio feels there may be a need to take some of the articles off the warrant to lower the possible tax impact. There was a discussion about whether the Selectmen should take articles off or present everything they received from Department Heads. It was decided to meet with Chief Quimby on Tuesday and discuss the possibility of removing two of his proposed articles.
Jim Plunkett was asked to prepare an estimate to employ the best salt practices from our engineer. He estimates it to be around $50,000.
Other Business
Nancy presented the Board with a contract from James St. Jean for the property to be auctioned. The reserve was discussed and the Board would like the reserve to be set at $45,000 and add an advertisement in the Suncook Valley Sun. Nancy will communicate that with the auctioneers.
A motion by Mr. Paveglio and seconded by Mr. DeBold to adjourn the meeting at 7:45. Motion passes.
